About us
Hi there — we’re so glad you’re here. We’re Rachel and Ibe, a couple who discovered a deeper love for travel and adventure while living abroad. Our time overseas reshaped our goals, values, and how we choose to spend our days — with more intention, more exploration, and more joy. And, now, we are on a yearlong adventure around the globe. Here, we share our travels and we hope you’ll follow along and find inspiration for your own adventures.
Our Story
We are just a couple of kids at heart who finally turned a dream into reality: taking a year off to travel the world.
We have always been a bit nomadic by nature. Between the two of us, we’ve moved a lot throughout adulthood. We first met back in 2015, and the early years of our relationship were spent living in separate time zones and even separate countries. Even then, the seeds had been planted: after Ibe retired, we’d take time off to travel the world.
In the meantime, life was filled with the things we loved most — friends and family, beach runs, good drinks, great dinners, and discovering new experiences close to home in the U.S.
But life has a funny way of surprising you. An unexpected opportunity took us to Okinawa, Japan, and everything shifted. Living on our island paradise changed our perspective on what mattered. We reprioritized our time, learned how to slow down, embraced play again, and dove (literally — hi, scuba life) into new hobbies. We let go of “stuff,” embraced experiences, and leaned into pushing our comfort zones. This solidified our dream - we must take the time to travel. From that point on, we planned for it, saved for it, and daydreamed about the adventures ahead.
And, just like that, the moment we’d been dreaming about for years finally arrived — Ibe’s retirement — and with it, the start of our big year of adventure.
At the end of the day, we just want to share the joy we’ve found. We want to share those moments with you — the stories, the lessons, the misadventures, the beauty — and hopefully inspire your own journey, whether it’s across the globe or just down the street.
